Contained Garden
Sharon February 13th, 2009

A favorite corner of the sunroom this winter is a large container garden. I started with a 50 gallon recycled fish tank and added gravel, potting soil and sphagnum moss. It didn’t do much for the first year until I put a light over it and now everything grows in it!
I couldn’t resist putting in some miniature garden furniture, rocks and a piece of driftwood. The plants are cuttings or volunteers from other things in the sun room and garden including coleus, impatiens (blooming!) and prayer plants among others. I don’t know why I get such a kick out of this tiny garden but in mid winter it is a place I can walk through in my imagination. Maybe I should set up a tiny easel!
